Warralong sports court upgrade
Nyamal country, Pilbara, Western Australia
About the project
For this project Metio is working with Strelley Community School at Warralong. Warralong is Nyamal country but its population is mainly Martu, and it’s the only Martu community whose basketball court is still open to the sun and rain. This project will construct a cover for the existing basketball court and add lighting, so the space will be protected from the sun and rain, and usable for a range of sports as well as for community gatherings.
Our role
Metio’s role is to plan the project, including liaising with the school, community and Western Australian Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage to include the court within the boundary of the school; coordinate the design, seek funding and manage construction.
